Eleven AGs Filed Petition for Review Challenging EPA Over Aircraft Emissions Standard

California Attorney General Rob Bonta led 11 attorneys general filing in a petition for review, which challenged the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) standards regulating emissions from aircraft. The AGs argued that the rule, which declined to reduce emissions of particulate matter (PM) from aircraft engines, was unlawful and violated the Clean Air Act. In 2022, AG Bonta, along with the California Air Resource Board, led comments to EPA arguing that these standards did not adequately acknowledge the burden of PM emissions on nearby communities that are already overburdened by pollution, and called for stronger standards.
