Eight AGs Sued EPA Over Failure to Implement Landfill Methane Regulations

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra led a coalition of eight attorneys general in filing a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over the agency’s failure to implement and enforce regulations on emissions of methane from municipal solid waste landfills. The regulation would reduce landfill emissions of volatile organic compounds, hazardous air pollutants, carbon dioxide, and methane. The regulation took effect on October 28, 2016, but the EPA refused to implement or enforce it.
