District of Columbia AG Secured Settlement With Auto Repair Company Over Persistent Water Quality Violations

District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine secured a settlement to partially resolve a 2018 lawsuit against an auto repair company whose activities resulted in unpermitted discharges of motor oil into nearby waterways, in violation of the District’s Water Pollution Control Act, and caused a “near constant nuisance and hazard” to residents and public resources. The facility is located in a majority-Black area of Washington D.C., that faces significant environmental justice challenges.
