Delaware AG Filed Lawsuit against Chemical Companies for PFAS Contamination

Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings filed a lawsuit against several chemical companies, including 3M, for manufacturing firefighting foam that contained per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as “forever chemicals” for their resistance to breaking down in the human body and the environment. In the complaint, AG Jennings argued that the companies manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of these products—in some case with full awareness of the dangers of PFAS—resulted in “significant environmental contamination and pollution.” The lawsuit sought damages for endangering the health of the state’s waterways, groundwater, soil, and wildlife.
