Connecticut AG Secured Penalties against Electric Supplier for Deceptive Practices

Connecticut Attorney General William Tong secured a record $1.5 million in penalties against electric supplier Direct Energy for deceptive marketing and sales practices that harmed consumers. The deceptive practices included misrepresenting rates and fees, failing to provide Spanish-language contracts and marketing materials and other violations of state consumer protection laws.
