California AG Testified before EPA on Waiver for Heavy-Duty Truck Regulations
JUNE 30, 2022
California Attorney General Rob Bonta testified before the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at a hearing discussing California’s request for waivers for its Heavy-Duty truck regulations. Under the Clean Air Act, California requested waivers of preemption which would allow the California Air Resources Board to implement new emission standards. In his testimony, AG Bonta argued that the decision to grant these waivers not only impacted climate change, but also public health. He also mentioned how previous standards, Advanced Clean Trucks and Omnibus NOx standards, set by California have been adopted by other states.
