California AG Released Statement Following EPA’s Approval of Heavy-Duty Truck Waivers
MARCH 31, 2023
California Attorney General Rob Bonta issued a statement applauding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) decision to grant two Clean Air Act waivers allowing California to set heavy-duty truck standards that are stronger than federal standards. AG Bonta previously led 17 AGs in urging EPA to grant the waivers in August 2022. “California is a nationwide leader when it comes to combating climate change and air pollution, and EPA’s decision today is another important step in advancing the state’s climate and air-quality goals,” said AG Bonta. “I applaud EPA for approving California’s commonsense standards to reduce air pollution from heavy-duty trucks. California’s standards are crucial for our communities, public health, and our planet.”
