California AG Filed Amicus Brief Defending Ventura County Plan to Protect EJ Communities from Oil & Gas Drilling

California Attorney General Rob Bonta filed an amicus brief defending Ventura County policies that protect communities of color situated near oil and gas drilling sites. The policies—which include provisions such as limits on excessive venting and flaring and distance requirements between drilling sites and schools—faced numerous lawsuits. In his amicus brief, AG Bonta highlighted the health harms of living, working, or attending school near a drilling site, and refuted claims that state laws preempted the County’s policies.
