California AG Blocked Fracking Off of Coast
JUNE 3, 2022
California Attorney General Rob Bonta secured a decision preventing fracking off the coast of California. His office filed a lawsuit against the Interior Department in 2016 challenging a final environmental assessment which led to the authorization of fracking. In its June 3 decision, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals agreed with the AG’s office that the environmental analysis was flawed, and violated NEPA, the Endangered Species Act, and the Coastal Zone Management Act.
