Arizona AG Launched Investigation into Lead-Covered Telecommunication Cables

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes launched an investigation into lead-covered telecommunications cables after recent reports identified environmental and public health risks associated with these types of cables. In order to assess the extent of the issue, the AG’s office is gathering “data on the type, location, and length of these cables, and whether they are aerial, underground, or underwater.” AG Mayes sent letters to over 200 telecommunications companies requesting information about the lead-covered cables they own.
