Maryland AG Sued Monsanto for Harms Caused by PCBs

Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh announced a lawsuit against Monsanto, a large agrochemical and agricultural company, for the lasting damages caused by polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) found in the company’s manufactured chemicals. The lawsuit claimed that Monsanto had known as early as the 1930s about the harmful effects of PCBs on humans and animals but continued to manufacture with the substances until PCBs were banned in the country in 1979. Marylanders continue to have to deal with the clean-up and effects of PCBs decades later.
