Wisconsin AG Secured Consent Decree for Cleanup of Contaminated Fox River

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul secured approval from a federal district court judge of a consent decree to ensure that responsible parties pay for future cleanup costs of the contaminated Fox River. Wisconsin worked with the Environmental Protection Agency to select the cleanup remedy, which is expected to cost $1.2 billion. From the 1950s through the early 1970s, paper companies in Wisconsin discharged polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) into the Fox River.
