Texas AG Reached Environmental Settlement with Polluting Chemical Companies
OCTOBER 22, 2021
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton reached a settlement with chemical companies DuPont and PMNA after a lawsuit the AG and Department of Justice filed earlier in the month over the companies’ numerous environmental violations at a chemical manufacturing complex in the state—including storing and disposing of hazardous waste and discharged wastewater without permits. Under the settlement, the companies will pay $3.35 million in civil penalties and attorneys’ fees, will monitor and control contamination of hazardous chemicals, and perform any necessary cleanup.
