New Jersey AG Filed Lawsuit against Federal Government over PFAS Contamination Surrounding Military Facilities
JANUARY 14, 2021
New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal filed a lawsuit against the Department of Defense over its failure to adequately address “the imminent and substantial endangerment to the human health of New Jersey’s residents” caused by the department’s use of firefighting foam containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The practice dates back to the 1970s and has made the federal government “one of the country’s largest users” of PFAS-containing firefighting foam.
