Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt filed a lawsuit against the Energy Department over its plan to ship one metric ton of radioactive plutonium from South Carolina to Nevada for storage at a site northwest of Las Vegas. In the complaint, AG Laxalt expressed serious concerns regarding the public health risks associated with exposure to radiation, as well as the potential for the plan to set a precedent for future disposal of nuclear waste in Nevada.
