Illinois AG Announced Lawsuit against Metal Company for EJ Harms

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul announced a lawsuit against a metal management company for violating state pollution codes that created a threat to public health and environmental justice. The case alleged that the company failed to meet a minimum threshold reduction in uncontrolled emissions from the company’s Chicago-based metal shredding and recycling facility. AG Raoul also announced a temporary court order that requires the company to significantly reduce uncontrolled emissions and create a control system to achieve reduction compliance.
