Fourteen AGs Requested Extension of Comment Period for EPA Regulatory Science Proposal

New Yorke Attorney General Letitia James and New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal led a coalition of 14 attorneys general filed a request for extension of the public comment period for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “Secret Science” supplemental proposed rule. The coalition requested that the 30-day comment period set by the EPA be extended to a minimum of 120 days, and urged the agency to “consult with the National Academy of Sciences and other independent scientists and science organizations in a meaningful manner before deciding whether any changes to EPA’s current use of scientific evidence are in order.” The cities of Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Oakland, Philadelphia and San Francisco, and King County, WA, joined the attorneys general in filing the request.
