Eleven AGs Settled with EPA to Require Asbestos Reporting
JUNE 7, 2021
Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey and California Attorney General Rob Bonta led a coalition of 11 states in a settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency, requiring the chemical industry to provide reporting of their use of asbestos to better protect the public from health risks posed by exposure to the toxic substance. The decision closed reporting loopholes that were put in place by the Trump administration and marked an important step in collecting missing information about the use and importation of asbestos.
