Connecticut AG Succeeded in Request for Investigation of Natural Gas Marketing Tactics

Connecticut Attorney General William Tong announced that—following requests by his office for the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) to investigate the illegal marketing tactics of Eversource, a natural gas company—PURA announced a $1.8 million civil penalty against the company. Eversource’s marketing tactics included high-pressure door-to-door marketing and deceptive letters that pressured consumers to switch to natural gas, which violated Connecticut law according to AG Tong’s petition to PURA.
