California AG Filed Comments Opposing Expansion of Permitted Uses for Pesticide Flonicamid

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed comments to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in response to a request by pesticide manufacturer ISK Biosciences to expand the permitted uses of the pesticide flonicamid to include outdoor plants in residential settings. The pesticide is already approved for use on a wide variety of farm crops, including apples, wheat and cotton. AG Becerra’s comments urged the EPA to fully assess flonicamid’s risk to bees and other pollinators before approving any new uses for the product.
